Summer learning makes the whole year better
The “summer slide” is the well documented loss of learning that occurs over the summer break if a student doesn’t participate in a summer learning program. Camp Stars which was created to combat the “summer slide,” is our six week, 35 hours per week, summer educational enrichment camp which includes STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning and faith sharing through Vacation Bible School fun and service. This year 34 campers from kindergarten to 6th grade participated in this camp which includes science experiments, math exercises, field trips, service projects, art, drama, crafts and singing all while learning more about God, Jesus and our Christian faith. We thank the Montei Foundation for being the major donor to Camp Stars for the sixth summer. They make this camp possible. As a summer food distribution site sponsored by the Rio Arriba County Summer Food Program, our Camp Stars students are provided breakfast and lunch and children in the area can come to our campus for these meals also. We thank the Rio Arriba County Summer Food Program for this support.
The 2019 applications for Camp Stars will be available here in May of 2019.
