Virtual Missions

McCurdy Ministries Community Center loves welcoming volunteers to our campus! During the pandemic we missed our volunteers, so we found creative ways to involve our volunteers in our ministries including providing Virtual Mission experiences. We are excited about this program because it can help you plan a Volunteer in Mission Team to McCurdy in the future. In addition, folks who will never be able travel to New Mexico can experience our ministries up close and personal and we can stay in touch from a distance!

What is a Virtual Mission?

Virtual mission experiences are the brainchild of Karen Distefano, the South Central Jurisdiction UMVIM & Disaster Response Director. It provides an opportunity for local churches, Sunday School classes, United Women in Faith, men’s groups, Bible study groups, mission teams, (add comma) and youth groups to travel to the mission field virtually to learn about McCurdy Ministries Community Center and the difference we make in the name of Jesus in the Española Valley. A Virtual Mission involves personal study, prayer, (add comma)and preparation as well as Zoom sessions for team devotionals, fellowship, presentations from McCurdy staff, question and answer sessions, discussions about ways your group can support McCurdy Ministries, (add comma) and a closing celebration including authentic Northern New Mexico cuisine if your circumstances permit. Because sessions are held virtually there is the possibility of recruiting group participants from across the country.

There are three types of virtual mission experiences:

  • 60 to 90 minute sessions six days during a scheduled week at a time convenient for your group
  • 60 to 90 minute sessions three days during a scheduled week at a time convenient for your group
  • One 60 to 90 minute session on one day at a time convenient for your group

To schedule a Virtual Mission, fill out a Virtual Mission Application here and email it to Eufemia Romero at eromero@mccurdy.org. For more information, please call Eufemia at 505-753-7221, ext. 210.

What you need to plan a Virtual Mission experience

Each Virtual Mission must have a Team Leader who is responsible for scheduling the mission with McCurdy, advertising the event, recruiting participants, providing, and adapting the provided resources to meet your team’s needs, initiating the Zoom sessions, and coordinating with McCurdy staff about your team.

Thanks to Linda Polson, experienced VIM team leader and MMCC board member, the following resources are provided to help make your Virtual Mission exciting and inspiring. If you need suggestions for organizing your Virtual Mission email Linda at lpolson1966@gmail.com.
