A Light in the Valley
Our Commitment
McCurdy Ministries is a historic United Methodist National Mission Institution with a rich history of ministry in the Española Valley. We are committed to sharing the light of Christ in the Española Valley through a variety of ministries and programs focused on children, teens, and families.
In 2024, McCurdy Ministries became a Family Resource Center, offering hope, love, and grace to families in practical ways as trained family navigators connect them with a range of resources, including the Light House clothes closet, a food pantry through the Food Depot, and support from state agencies, and partner non-profits on our campus.
We also are offering LEER (ley-EHR, “to read” in Spanish), a new children's literacy initiative ministry, and the ‘Enchanted Forest of Reading’ children’s library plus a Reading Buddy program.
In addition, McCurdy Ministries offers an After School program, a five-star Pre-K, Project Cariño mental health services, and a vibrant Volunteers in Mission program. The heart of McCurdy is to bless the lives of children and youth in the community by offering hope, dignity, resources, and education.
Resources & Programs
McCurdy Family Resource Center
McCurdy’s Family Resource Center is a CYFD Family Services initiative that allows the creation of a community-based resource hub and a shared space where families can access services that support and promote their health and well-being. The Family Resource Center hub and Community Room are located in the Cole building. Please pray for the new staff, families, nonprofits, and others who will join us in this important ministry for families in the Española Valley.
The Light House
We are beyond excited to announce that The Light House Clothing Closet is open in the mission school’s former Teacherage!
The Light House is a place where children and adults of all ages can "shop" for clothing in a way that leaves them with a deep sense of their beloved-ness and value!
What's New at McCurdy
So many different partners are coming together at McCurdy Ministries. We are excited to announce that the Food Depot has chosen the Family Resource Center to be the site for a family-based pantry through its program Food For Kids. We are collecting the following items for this Family Pantry: shelf-stable foods, cleaning supplies (detergent, dish soap, bleach, etc.), toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrushes/paste, deodorant) and diapers and other baby items.
